Happiness lies within

We always have complaints – we did n’t achieve this in our life, we lost this, we have grief, we don’t have money, we are suffering, we have pain and so on. We are so dynamic with our mind that even metro rail seems to be slower than the speed with which our thoughts keep on fluctuating. We want to have vanilla ice cream at one point of time but while having the ice cream, if we see someone having butterscotch or chocolate, we think about having it next time. We keep on cribbing that we don’t have enough money, we are not rich enough to travel in Mercedes and live in bungalows. We simply have no idea about the stress faced by a multimillionaire businessman who can’t sleep properly. Are we not better than many wealthier people in the sense that we sleep with contentment. There are not many people who are fortunate like us to have loved ones. Have you ever thought about how a kid who has just lost his father feels on his birthday or special days when he would want his father’s support. Have you thought about parents who have just lost their only child? There are many people in this world who are in a much more critical condition than you are today. So stop complaining and thank God that you have loved ones- family and friends, thank God that you get food to eat, thank God that you are educated enough to be able to read this article, thank God that you are physically fit. There are always two ways to look at a situation : choose a positive side and all will be well.

Some small things which will keep you happy and calm :

  • Leave “I”
  • Practice “Us”
  • Help others
  • Prayers and Meditation
  • Respect other creatures (Humans, Animals and Plants)

Sometimes life does not move the way we want it to, it is better to accept the bad phase with dignity and continue the journey with a smile and a strong belief – “All will be well” .

120 minutes in a traffic jam in Delhi

Yesterday, it took me about 120minutes, yes 2 hours to reach home from office. My office is at a distance of around 35km from my home and it usually takes 60-75 minutes one side. I started the journey at 6:30pm as I had stopped by Reliance Fresh to buy some biscuits for my brother. All went fine till we reached Tilak Marg at about 7:25pm. But things went to a standstill at Tilak Marg. The light would turn green for only 30 seconds and thus it took us 50 minutes to cross that red light. The traffic police would ask us to have patience. What I saw seemed so kiddish to me, something which we used to do when we were kids- we used to make noise when teacher was not there. When the traffic police guy would come, all the people would start honking loud to tease him to turn our signal green. Finally we were lucky to cross the light at 8:15pm.  Our next stoppage was at ITO which we could clear at 8:25pm. Finally we crossed the Yamuna bridge and I reached my home at about 8:35 pm.

The traffic jam, the horns and the pollution made me so irritable that I made it a point to start early for home today evening. Things were much better today and I reached in time.

OO Maa- My sweet mother

It is 9th May 2010- the day being celebrated all over the world as mother’s day. Mom is the most beautiful person God has created. Mom showers us with selfless love. She has tears in her eyes when we are in pain. She has the strength to fight with the world for the safety and protection of her kids. My mom is special in many ways. I love it when she scolds me on my mistakes. I love it when she teaches me how to do things better. I feel no relation can be so pure and strong as that between me and my mom.

So lets look at some common features of all moms. I am sure you would relate to many of these:

  1. Your mom wants you to get up on time especially on Sundays when you want to sleep late.
  2. Your mom doesn’t like your untidy room and wants you to clean it ASAP.
  3. Mom cooks nice food especially for you : she wants you to have green vegetables daily whether you like it or not.
  4. Mom is the most concerned person if you have hurt yourself even if it’s a minor injury.
  5. Mom would stay awake whole night with wet bandages when you have high fever.
  6. Mom would go shopping with you (esp with daughters) and would help you best with colors and designs.
  7. Mom is the best friend to share information which you might not be able to tell dad directly.
  8. Tips given by mom are useful throughout life.
  9. The teachings of mom are very thoughtful and precious.
  10. Mom showers you with endless love and affection.

Always love your mom and thank God that you have mom.

Wish you a happy mother’s day.
